The Founder of MCYO

Roy V. Cox, Artistic Director and Conductor, founded the MCYO in 1990 and formulated a specific method for developing advanced performance skills in young musicians.
His extensive musical career includes performing, conducting and teaching throughout North America, Europe and Asia. As a member of the Toronto Symphony he toured much of the world. Mr. Cox has taught at the University of Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He retired from conducting in February of 2009. Roy passed away in May 2014 at the age of 87.

The Second Conductor and Artistic Director

Dr. Manson assumed directorship of MCYO in October 2009. He is a baritone and conductor, who has performed as a soloist with many musical organizations, including the Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, the Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, the Old York Road Symphony, Opera North, Inc. and the Capitol Area Music Association.

Cailin raised the bar and established MCYO firmly in the Philadelphia area Youth Music arena during his four year tenure. He assumed the Director of Music position at the Putney School in Vermont in 2013.
